<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a static pressure gas bearing spindle capable of decreasing the outer diameter of a housing and achieving a lightweight and small-sized construction. <P>SOLUTION: The constitution includes a disk-shaped turbine part 10 having turbine blades 12 which is installed inside a housing 2 at one end of a rotary shaft 4 supported rotatably by a static pressure gas bearing 6, and a turbine air jetting nozzle part 22 formed at the housing 2 for jetting the gas toward the turbine blades 12. The housing 2 has a groove 24 formed on the side with the first housing end face 2a which is one of the two end faces about the axial direction and lies on the side nearer the turbine air jetting nozzle part 22, and a turbine air supplying communication passage 28 to put the turbine air jetting nozzle part 22 in communication with the groove 24.
