<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low cost means for the end-group functionalization of rubbery living polymers to improve their affinity for fillers, such as carbon black and/or silica, and to provide a rubber composition containing the functionalized elastomer, and a pneumatic tire containing the rubber composition. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided the functionalized elastomer comprising the reaction product of a living anionic elastomeric polymer; and a polymerization terminator of formula I (wherein, at least two of R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>are 1-8C alkoxy; and -S-Z is a sulfide group or a thiocarbonate group). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
