<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for tires and a pneumatic tire using the same which achieve both high hardness and high modulus while maintaining a low exothermic property. <P>SOLUTION: The rubber composition for tires includes 100 pts.mass of a diene rubber, 5-100 pts.mass of silica, 0.5-10 pts.mass of a silane coupling agent, and a styrene polymer containing an epoxy groups with an epoxy equivalent of ≥1,000.
