<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition well-balancedly improved in low fuel consumption, wet grip performance, wear resistance, steering stability and processability, and to provide a pneumatic tire using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The rubber composition contains a rubber component, a silica and an ethylene oxide adduct of glycerin. In 100 mass% of the rubber component, the content of a conjugated dienic polymer, which has a structural unit based on a conjugated diene and a structural unit represented by formula (I) and at least one terminal of which is modified with a silicon compound having a carbonyl group or an ether group, is ≥5 mass%. The content of the silica is 5 to 150 parts by mass to 100 parts by mass of the rubber component. The content of a compound represented by a specific formula is 0.1 to 10 parts by mass thereto. In the formula (1), X<SP POS="POST">1</SP>, X<SP POS="POST">2</SP>and X<SP POS="POST">3</SP>are each independently a group represented by formula (Ia), a hydroxyl group, a hydrocarbyl group or a substituted hydrocarbyl group, and at least one of X<SP POS="POST">1</SP>, X<SP POS="POST">2</SP>and X<SP POS="POST">3</SP>is a group represented by formula (Ia) or a hydroxyl group. In the formula (Ia), R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>are each independently a 1-6C hydrocarbyl group, a 1-6C substituted hydrocarbyl group, a silyl group or a substituted silyl group, wherein R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>may bond to form a ring structure with a nitrogen atom. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
