A polymer speaker (1) is constructed from an electrostrictive element (10) having an elastomer or resin dielectric layer (11) and a plurality of electrode layers (12a, 12b) arranged on both the front and back surfaces of the dielectric layer (11). The electrode layers (12a, 12b) are composed of a conductive material that includes a polymer binder and a conductive material, and has an elasticity of 100 MPa or less. A spring constant in the surface direction of the electrode layers (12a, 12b) is less than the spring constant in the surface direction of the dielectric layer (11). The volume resistivity of the electrode layers (12a, 12b) is 200 Omega·cm or less. Based on the polymer speaker (1), practical sound pressure can be obtained in a wider high-frequency range from low frequencies to high frequencies. |
