[Problem] To provide a recording element and recording device that are able to perform a write operation in a short period of time without write errors arising. [Solution] The recording element is configured having a layer structure including: a recording layer of which the direction of magnetization changes in accordance with information; a fixed magnetization layer of which the direction of magnetization is fixed; and an intermediate layer resulting from a non-magnetic body disposed between the recording layer and the fixed magnetization layer. The fixed magnetization layer layers at least two ferromagnetic layers with a coupling layer therebetween, the two ferromagnetic layers are magnetically coupled via the coupling layer, and the direction of magnetization of the two ferromagnetic layers is inclined from the perpendicular direction to the film surfaces. By means of such a configuration, it is possible to effectively suppress divergence of magnetization reversal time resulting from the direction of magnetization of the recording layer and of the fixed magnetization layer becoming roughly parallel or antiparallel, and it is possible to reduce write errors and write in a shorter period of time.
