The gas blower (1) has gas conveying element driven by a shaft (7) mounted within a driving unit (4) of the gas blower via a slide bearing. The slide bearing is a hydrodynamic bearing comprising water as a lubricant. A condenser is provided for condensation of water vapor, to provide a lubricant for hydrodynamic bearing of the gas blower. A line structure for coolant and/or air cooling is provided in the condensation device. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) fuel cell system; and (2) method for operating fuel cell system.
