The method involves aligning a cone shaped X-ray bundle (4) from an X-ray tube (1) on an X-ray detector (2) through an examination volume, and detecting X-ray intensity of the bundle after passing through the volume. The bundle is divided into partial radiation bundles before passing through the volume such that irradiated areas of the volume are changed with non-irradiated areas. Recording geometries are adjusted for irradiating the non-irradiated areas. An X-ray image is generated from measuring values of the X-ray detector with the recording geometries. An independent claim is also included for a device for X-ray imaging.
