<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a tire capable of improving fuel efficiency and abrasion resistance while maintaining good processability, and a pneumatic tire using the rubber composition. <P>SOLUTION: The rubber composition for a tire contains: at least one kind selected from the group consisting of natural rubber and diene-based synthetic rubbers; surface-treated carbon black obtained by hydroxy-esterifying carboxyl group on the surface of carbon black by ring-opening reaction of an oxirane ring to chemically modify the surface; and an amphoteric compound having acidic and basic functional groups. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
