<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for driving assistance which assist driving without making a driver uncomfortable when the driver passes through near a moving object. <P>SOLUTION: Provided is a driving assistance apparatus which assists driving when passing through near a moving object on the basis of a normative relationship (experienced driver map) between the distance between the moving object and a driver's vehicle and speed of the driver's vehicle. The apparatus identifies a moving object ahead of the driver's vehicle or a virtual moving object in blind areas ahead of the driver's vehicle (S11), computes information for determining a possibility that the driver's vehicle will collide with the moving object or the virtual moving object (possible collision region) on the basis of moving speed set for the identified moving object or virtual moving object and movement information of the driver's vehicle (S13), determines whether to assist driving or not, or a type of driving assistance to be applied on the basis of the collision possibility determining information (S14); and proceeds with driving assistance in accordance with the determination result (S15). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
