The heating element (10) has a planar electrical heating unit for heating of chamber regions located at a side of the heating unit. The heating unit comprises a contact device (30) for connection with a power supply- and control device of a baking and roasting oven. The heating element is used as a baking divider for insertion into a baking chamber (12) of the oven and splitting the baking chamber into two chambers. The contact device is in alternative connection with an electronic device external to the oven. The heating unit comprises plates made of glasses and glass ceramic. The heating unit is formed as a heating film or as a flat heating body.
