METHOD OF SVC VIDEO TRANSMISSION BASED ON LAYER SELECTION SCHEME ON ERROR PRONE NETWORK AND APPARATUS FOR THE SAME

PURPOSE: An SVC(Scalable Video Coding) video data transmission method based on layer selection of a network having errors and a device thereof are provided to determine a level of a layer which is transmitted corresponding to an optimized layer path of the network, thereby not transmitting layers which are not used for image recovery of the final resolution. CONSTITUTION: An SVC video data transmission device generates a layer path having optimized efficiency based on a bit rate and PSNR(Peak Signal-to-Noise)(S110). The SVC video data transmission device determines a transmission layer level based on the layer path and a channel situation(S130). The SVC video data transmission device transmits a layer corresponding to the transmission layer level(S150). A transmission object layer is determined by considering dependency with the transmission layer level when the layer is transmitted.
