PURPOSE: A smart power trunk opening system and method are provided to ensure the convenience of a user for holding things in both hands by automatically opening a trunk lid when the user with a smart key approaches into a predetermined area. CONSTITUTION: A smart key trunk opening method comprises the following steps: turning on a smart trunk switch inside a vehicle(S101); preparing for the opening-control of a trunk lid by receiving the on-signal of the smart trunk switch through a controller(S102); outputting an opening command through the trunk opening and closing operation device of the controller when the smart key of a user approaches into a predetermined area; and automatically opening the trunk lid by the operation of the trunk opening and closing operation device(S104).
