An information processing device stores sets of data, such as files, on storage devices. The frequency of accesses to each of the storage devices is monitored. Changes in the access frequencies are predicted based on the monitored frequencies. The changes in access frequencies may be predicted by predicting the changes in access frequencies of the data sets on those devices. The predicted frequencies are used to choose the device, on which to reserve space for a new data set. The choice of device may take into account the expected usage of the new data set. This may include the time of day when the data set is used. The choice may be based on the peak access frequency or the average access frequency.
