The device has a control circuit (3) for converting current issued by a photodetector (1) into an electrical variable. A comparator (10) compares terminal voltages of a capacitive load (5) relative to a threshold value and delivers a signal according to the comparison, and is connected to a pair of switches (6, 7) and the switch.
