PURPOSE: A main plate lifting apparatus and a method for welding a main plate and a member to be welded using the same are provided to automatically weld the member to be welded on the main plate by selectively expanding an air mat after the air mat is moved to a predetermined position by the operation of first and second driving parts. CONSTITUTION: A main plate lifting apparatus comprises a base plate, a surface plate(110), a first driving part(200), a first moving block(310), a second moving block(320), a rotation transfer part(400), and an air mat(600). The surface plate is installed above the base plate and has multiple transfer rollers(111) contacted to a main plate. The first moving block is reciprocated by the first driving part in the X-axis direction of the surface plate. The second moving block is reciprocated by the first driving part in the X-axis direction of the surface plate when the first moving block moves. The rotation transfer part connects the first and second moving blocks and is rotated by a second driving part(500). The air mat is arranged on the rotation transfer part. The air mat reciprocates in the Y-axis direction of the surface plate along the rotation transfer part when the second driving part drives. The air mat presses upward the main plate when being expanded.
