The device (12) has a power module (18) comprising voltage converters (30, 32), and a switching arrangement (64) comprising a switching element (72) that is designed as a single-pole on-off switch. The switching arrangement has another switching element (66) that is designed as a single-pole changeover switch, where the latter switching element is formed as a component of one of direct connections formed between one of consumer units (20, 22, 24, 26) and one of the voltage converters. The switching arrangement connects the consumer units with the voltage converters in an operating condition. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a household appliance device.
