PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiport optical amplifier uniformed in the life of respective exciting light sources as much as possible by suppressing the progress of deterioration of the exciting light source which is remarkably deteriorated, in the multiport optical amplifier accommodating a plurality of exciting light sources. SOLUTION: When detecting the deterioration of a part of exciting light source elements 11a, a deterioration decision means 25 outputs information of the exciting light source element 11a decided to be a deteriorated element to a temperature target value adjustment means 29. Even after detecting the deteriorated exciting light source element 11a, using a drive current common target value calculation means 27, the target value of a driving current to be supplied to respective exciting light source elements 11a is set to the same value in respective exciting light source elements 11a. When inputting the information of the deteriorated exciting light source element 11a from the deterioration decision means 25, the temperature target value adjustment means 29 commands a temperature control circuit 13 maintaining the temperature of the deteriorated exciting light source element 11a at a predetermined set temperature to change the set temperature to another predetermined set temperature.
