903,667. Batteries. BURNDEPT Ltd. Jan. 22, 1960 [Feb. 10, 1959], No. 4658/59. Class 53. A battery for activation by immersion in water has thimbles 22 to permit water to enter into cells 2 drop by drop, and electrolyte overflow holes 6 in each cell. Each overflow stream is separated by ridges 4 to prevent short circuiting of the cells and excess electrolyte is vented by a capillary tube 14 in separate globules under the action of gas evolved by the electrochemical changes in the battery. Membrane 18 is such as when dry to permit the passage of gas, and to be impermeable when wet. The electrodes are silver chloride/magnesium. Specifications 814,535 and 849,659 are referred to. |
