A medical adhesive strip is produced by applying to a perforated backing material 10, an adhesive layer or basic coating 11, which is highly cohesive and adhesive and is provided with perforations, and subsequently applying to the adhesive layer at least one cover layer 13, of lesser cohesion and higher adhesiveness, which forms the surface of the adhesive strip. The backing material may be a woven fabric, knitted fabric or a perforated synthetic plastic foil. The basic coating may be applied as a ductile elastic synthetic plastic mass, e.g. polyvinyl isobutyl ethers, polyacrylic acid esters, copolymers of acrylic acid esters with polyterpene resins, and plasticized alkyd resins, and the cover layer applied as a mass consisting of natural or synthetic rubber, e.g. butadienestyrene and butadiene-acrylonitrile, and resin, dissolved in gasoline, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, with more powerful adhesiveness and of a more soft plastic nature than that of the basic coating. The cover layer may be formed, after the formation of the perforated basic coating, by local removal of the adhesive from a completely coated surface, advantageously a roll surface, on the perforated adhesive layer. An intermediate layer 14 may be formed in the contact zone between the adhesive coating 11 and the cover layer 13 by the passing over of some of the latter into the adhesive coating to produce tenacious connection of the layers. The perforations of the backing are kept free from adhesive material by the absorption of some of the cover layer into the adhesive layer to form an intermediate layer. |
