An apparatus includes at least one memory unit and at least one processing unit. The memory unit is configured to receive and store information associated with a particular geographical region. The processing unit is configured to execute a computer program for discretizing an image of the geographical region into a plurality of rectangular sub-regions which may be within a 3-dimensional space and using these sub-regions to generate a graph comprising a plurality of nodes and a plurality of edges, in which the nodes comprise the sub-regions and the edges, which may be adjusted by weighting factors, the relationship(if any) between the regions. The processing unit then geospatially partitions an image of the geographical region according to the graph to identify features in the image or anomalous behaviours of a target in the image with the partitioned image overlaid on to a map of the region. The partitioning is carried out by constructing two or more disjoint sets of related nodes in the graph using one or more sets of aggregated data of one or more tracks representing speed, acceleration or direction, that are detected in one or more sub-regions, the tracks corresponding to one or more targets in the geographical region and being generated over a plurality of non-simultaneous time intervals. |
