A motor vehicle is provided with a vehicle body, an engine compartment (105 see fig 4) having a bonnet 110 and an engine air intake duct 150 having an orifice through which intake air may be drawn into the engine. The vehicle is provided with two air flow paths whereby air may be supplied to the air intake duct. The first flow path (F1 see fig 4) is provided by a bonnet air intake conduit 110C having an air inlet aperture 110IN at a front portion of the bonnet 110 and an air outlet aperture 110OUT aft of the air inlet aperture 110IN, the air outlet aperture 110OUT being provided in fluid communication with the air intake duct orifice. The second flow path (F2 see fig 4) is provided by a gap between a side edge of the bonnet 110 and the body of the vehicle, whereby ambient air may be drawn through the gap to the air intake duct 150. The invention may provide cooler air to the engine, increased wading capability and reduced snow and water spray ingestion. |
