PURPOSE: A password authentication method and a portable device are provided to increase complexity of a password, thereby strengthening personal information protection. CONSTITUTION: A portable device displays an input keyboard which a plurality of objects is arranged(S1010). The portable device changes a part of arrangement among the plurality of objects or changes one or more objects into other object corresponding to an operation of a user(S1020). When a pattern corresponds to a predetermined password pattern, the portable device authenticates the user(S1030,S1040). The pattern is formed by an object which is arranged in a designated position of the input keyboard.
