PURPOSE: A driver recognition device and a control method thereof are provided to recognize the face of a driver based on the distance, the color, and the section feature of the pupils, thereby storing individual driving environment of the driver by using a single key. CONSTITUTION: A sensing unit(1) includes an image sensor which senses a face image of a driver. A control unit(20) receives signals from the sensing unit and an input unit(5). A storage unit(30) is connected to the control unit and stores driver features. The driver features include a driver pupil feature, a driver pupil color feature, and a driver section feature which show a size of an area with pupils and lips. An operation unit(40) is connected to the control unit and processes the face image of the driver corresponding to an operation control signal of the control unit.
