PURPOSE: A wheelchair control system and a control method thereof are provided to measure a tilt angle of a wheelchair on a slope way and to adjust the height of the wheelchair according to the measured inclination of the wheelchair to maintain level. CONSTITUTION: A wheelchair control system includes a chair body(50) on which wheels are installed; a support frame(60) which is separated from the chair body; and a level maintenance module(70) which maintains the support frame horizontally. The level maintenance module comprises an actuator which uses an applied power source to generate a driving force; a rod which moves in a linear direction; and a sensor which detects the inclination of the support frame.
