The invention relates to a pipe connection detecting device of a multi-connected air-conditioner and a method thereof, the objective of the invention is to correctly detect the pipe connection situation of an outdoor machine and an indoor machine in order to avoid possible errors of the pipe detection when capacity of the indoor machine is large. The pipe connection detecting method of the multi-connected air-conditioner provided by the invention comprises the steps of: running a compressor in the event that an electronic expanding valve corresponding to a plurality of the indoor machines areopened; detecting the temperature difference of pipe in each indoor machine caused by the running of the compressor before and after opening the electronic expanding valve; comparing the detected temperature difference of pipe with prearranged benchmark temperature, and changing the running frequency of the compressor in case that the temperature difference of pipe is within the range of benchmark temperature; detecting the temperature difference of pipe in the indoor machine caused by the running of the compressor after the frequency of the compressor is changed, in order to detect that the pipe connection situation is good enough for matching the plurality of the indoor machines with the electronic expanding valve. |
