582884 - Optical fibre with extruded polymeric low strength tight buffer layer A telecommunication cable includes at least one optical fibre 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 coated by a tight buffer layer 7 of a polymeric material extruded onto the fibre so that the internal diameter of the buffer layer is the same as the external diameter of the fibre. The polymeric material has an ultimate elongation equal to or less than 100% and an ultimate tensile strength equal to or less than 10 MPa, and can be peeled back from the fibre by the fingers without needing tools for a length of up to about 1 meter.
