PURPOSE: A display device and an optical compensation method thereof are provided to prevent the increase of the size of a data driving part, by applying an equal gamma setting value at a resolution of an extended luminance section. CONSTITUTION: Indication value output parts(41, 42) output an indication value in correspondence to a luminance change signal supplied from the outside. Compensation data output parts(43, 44) outputs one compensation data among optical compensation data classified into N in correspondence to the indication value supplied from the indication value output parts, where N is an integer number equal to or larger than 4. Gamma setting parts(45, 46) change a predetermined gamma on the basis of the compensation data outputted from the compensation data output part. A display panel displays an image on the basis of a data signal corresponding to the gamma voltage value changed by the gamma setting part.
