PURPOSE: A signature inspecting method is provided to inspect the character strings of about 47% by just inspecting 254 bits of the character strings. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of signatures included in a signature list is grouped in a plurality of indexes(210). A network packet which becomes a signature inspecting target is inputted(220). An index which is matched with the content of the network packet is inspected from a plurality of indexes(230). When the index matching with the content of the network packet is existed, a signature included in a group for the index is inspected(240).
