Disclosed herein is a method of processing a carbohydrate-containing material, the method comprising: converting an irradiated material to a product using an enzyme and/or microorganism, the irradiated material having been produced by exposing a combination formed by combining a cellulosic or lignocellulosic material with an inorganic material comprising a metal or metal alloy and exposing the combination to accelerated particles, wherein the combination is provided by dry blending or co-comminuting the cellulosic or lignocellulosic material and inorganic material. |
