APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MEASURING DELAY

PURPOSE: A delay measuring device and a method thereof are provided to correct delay errors generated according to frame transmission and reception in a second location when both-ways delay time is measured between a first and a second location. CONSTITUTION: An overhead insertion unit(42) inserts a time stamp into the overhead of a multi-frame transmitted from a first location to a second location. An overhead extraction unit(44) extracts the time stamp from the overhead of the multi-frame received from the second location. The time stamp includes delay error information from the second location. A delay measuring unit(40) measures both-ways delay time between the first location and the second location by using the inserted time stamp and the extracted time stamp. The delay measuring unit corrects the measured both-way delay time by using the extracted delay error information.
