<p>It becomes possible to segment a section of a biological tissue into fragments each having such a size that a sufficient amount of cells are contained therein, by employing a simple constitution and a simple procedure. Provided is a tissue segmentation apparatus equipped with: a base plate having a surface which is so adapted as to be segmented into multiple small pieces (20a) and onto which a section (A) of a biological tissue can be adhered; and a segmentation section (22, 23) which can segment the base plate into multiple small pieces (20a) to thereby segment the section (A) adhered on the surface of the base plate into fragments having almost the same shapes as those of the small pieces (20a).</p>
