The invention relates to a process for preparing a liquid fuel for internal combustion engines. According to the invention, the process consists in selectively extracting biobutanol resulting from butanol fermentation process with motor vehicle gasoline or with a hydrocarbonate component employed in the preparation thereof, at a solvent : fermentation solution ratio of 1:1...10:1, in a discontinuous or continuous system, at temperatures of 80°C at the most, the resulting mixture being employed as such in the preparation of motor vehicle gasoline.
