<p>A lighting apparatus is configured so as to modulate the optical intensity of a light source (11) provided with a light-emitting element (2), and to superimpose a communication signal on the light emitted from the light source (11). The lighting apparatus includes: a principal power source (3) configured so as to dim and brighten the light source (11) on the basis of a dimming signal; a switching element (Q1) for modulating the output current supplied to the light source (11) from the principal power source (3); an impedance element (Rx); a communication circuit (7); and a control power source (8). The communication circuit (7) is configured so as to control the switching element (Q1), and superimpose a modulation signal on the light emitted by the light source (11). The control power source (8) is configured so as to supply power to the communication circuit (7).
