<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply for lighting and a lighting device that stabilize the control of an output current by a dimmer and reduce power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a power supply for lighting that includes a rectifier circuit, a smoothing capacitor, a waveform forming circuit, and a DC-DC converter. The rectifier circuit rectifies an inputted AC voltage. The waveform forming circuit is connected between the rectifier circuit and the smoothing capacitor, performs switching operation repeating an on-state and an off-state when a voltage outputted from the rectifier circuit is relatively high, and continues the on-state when the voltage outputted from the rectifier circuit is relatively low, to pass a current to the rectifier circuit.
