<p>A hydrocarbon fuel antioxidant comprising a compound, a precursor or a derivative of the compound having the following molecular structure: R1-(CnHm)-R2, where n and m are positive integers, where the -(CnHm)- group is three or more straight-chain molecular fragments consisting of 50 or less covalently linked carbon atoms, and where R1 and R2 comprise aromatic ring or carboxylic acid or hydroxyl or alkyl groups. The aromatic ring groups may be monocyclic or polycyclic, or may be heterocyclic having oxygen or nitrogen, and may be with substituent or without substituent. The antioxidant comprises one or more straight-chain or cyclic conjugated bonds constituted by conjugated double bonds. The cyclic conjugated double bond is provided in the aromatic ring at the end; the straight-chain conjugated double bond is provided in the carbon chain at the mid-section. The antioxidant has a significant absorption peak within the ultraviolet wavelength range between 250 nm and 400 nm. The hydrocarbon fuel antioxidant comprises a carotenoid, vitamin A, or vitamin E. Also provided is an application of and use method for the antioxidant. The antioxidant allows for facilitated ultraviolet light stabilization effect of a fuel, for facilitated oxygen stabilization effect of the fuel, also, particularly when used in tandem with additives such as cetane improver and octane improver, for facilitated combustion efficiency of the fuel, and for reduced discharge of pollutants.</p> |
