<p>A method for producing a film, which comprises: a coating step wherein a substrate is coated with a polymerizable liquid crystal composition that contains (A) a polymerizable liquid crystal compound, (B) a liquid crystal aligning agent that is capable of controlling the alignment of the polymerizable liquid crystal compound, (C) a polymerization initiator and (D) a solvent; and a drying step wherein the thus-formed coating film is dried. The liquid crystal aligning agent is a compound represented by formula (AA), and the liquid crystal aligning agent is added in an amount of 0.005-0.2 part by mass per 100 parts by mass of the polymerizable liquid crystal compound. In this method for producing a film, uneven wind during the drying is suppressed, so that a film that has good liquid crystal alignment and good other surface properties can be produced. (In formula (AA), each of L1 and L2 independently represents an alkylene group that may be substituted by a fluorine atom and has 1-6 carbon atoms, and in this connection, one CH2 or two or more CH2 moieties not adjacent to each other in the alkylene group may be substituted by -O-, -S-, -OCO-, -COO-, -NRa-, -NRaCO-, -CONRa-, -NRaSO2- or -SO2NRa- (wherein Ra represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1-5 carbon atoms); and each of n1 and n2 independently represents an integer of 3 or more, and in this connection, the plurality of the structures in parentheses may be the same as or different from each other.)</p> |
