PURPOSE: A magnetic recording system using multi-level writing current is provided to apply writing current to a magnetic state of a stimulation end based on writing data patterns, thereby recoding a high-density data pattern on a magnetic medium. CONSTITUTION: A pattern detection circuit detects a pattern in data which is written by a magnetic writing head and produces a pattern display signal. A writing driver(132) generates a multi-level writing current waveform for the magnetic writing head. One or more electronic properties of the multi-level writing current waveform are based on the pattern detected by the pattern detection circuit.
