The invention relates to a helmet made up of an electronic control system, actuators and data-acquisition sensors capable of performing the following functions: 1. detecting fumes; 2. detecting impacts; 3. detecting extended periods without movement; 4. sending two-way messages to the outside; 5. automatically sending alarms - SOS, impacts, fumes, person motionless - to the outside; 6. actively locating the worker; 7. passively locating the worker; 8. vibrating and luminous warnings to the operator; and 9. luminous location when launching an SOS by means of "headlamp" LEDs.
