Stably provided is a sodium battery which has a sufficiently high voltage efficiency when Al is used for the negative electrode collector, and in which Na is deposited uniformly. Also provided is a negative electrode collector for sodium batteries, wherein: a zinc coating is formed on a surface of aluminium; an aluminium oxide layer is formed on the surface of the aluminium upon which the zinc coating has not been formed; and an aluminium oxide layer is not formed on the interface between the zinc coating and the aluminium, or, an aluminium oxide layer, which is thinner than the aluminium oxide layer formed on the section upon which the zinc coating has not been formed, is formed on the interface between the zinc coating and the aluminium. Also provided is a method for producing the negative electrode collector for sodium batteries, in which the zinc coating is formed on the surface of the aluminium using zincate treatment.
