PURPOSE: A novel horse gene containing BTB/POZ domain with GCL(germ cell less) homology is provided to improve breeding ability of a horse. CONSTITUTION: A novel horse gene is isolated from horse blood or muscle and contains a nucleotide sequence of sequence number 1. A nucleic acid molecule encoding a novel protein containing BTB/POZ domain with GCL homology is selected from the group consisting of nucleic acid molecules with a nucleotide sequence of sequence number 1. A polypeptide forming the protein or a part thereof contains an amino acid sequence of sequence number 2. The novel protein contains the polypeptide or a part thereof.
