<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inductor that can be made thin and manufactured more easily, in addition to having prescribed performances. <P>SOLUTION: An inductor includes: a magnetic core comprising a winding part and a peripheral part; and a coil wound around the winding part. The magnetic core is obtained by pressure-molding two pieces or more of preforms with the coil wound around the preforms. The preforms are obtained by molding a compound of flat magnetic powder and an organic binding agent with thermosetting properties into a flat plate shape in parallel to a prescribed flat surface. The preforms forming the winding part of the magnetic core and the preforms forming the peripheral part of the magnetic core are molded as separate preforms.
