<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image heating device, in a paper jam, capable of easily protecting a heating source from a contact and adhesion of foreign objects while retaining heat efficiency in a normal paper passage (in image heating) in a belt type image heating device. <P>SOLUTION: The image heating device includes a protection member provided at the front position of the heating source in the direction where a belt member whose external surface is deformed by runaway of paper in a paper jam, and heads towards the heating source. The protection member is configured to be change over between a first location for image heating for exposing the heating source to the belt member, and a second location for the paper jam for shielding the heat source with respect to the belt member. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
