<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer that can provide a rubber composition and a pneumatic tire, wherein low fuel consumption and wet grip performance are improved well-balancedly. <P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to a copolymer that can be obtained by reacting a compound having a specific functional group with a polymer active terminal, wherein the polymer active terminal can be obtained by copolymerizing 1,3-butadiene and a specific aromatic compound or by copolymerizing the 1,3-butadiene, an aromatic vinyl compound, and the specific aromatic compound.
