<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractable chair which can be seated from the side by rotating the seat, in which a wide space can be made available in the front and the back when not in use, and which is comfortable to sit on. <P>SOLUTION: As a chair that is compactly retracted when not in use, the leg is fixedly installed on the floor, and the rear side of the seat rises and the front side moves toward the backrest when the chair is not in use. On the upper end of the leg 3 of a center support erected on the floor, a pedestal 4 is turnably mounted. The pedestal 4 and the seat 1, when retracted with a front link 5 and a rear link 6, are connected by forming four-point link so that the seat 1 is inclined by 30 to 90 degrees with respect to a horizontal line. Also, the backrest 2 is connected to the pedestal 4 turnably in the front and rear direction and, at the same time, is connected to the front link 5 or the rear link 6.
