PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a display device that can reduce power consumption.

SOLUTION: A display device includes: a liquid crystal display section which displays an image based on a video signal; a backlight; and a processing section which corrects the video signal and sets the luminance of the backlight based on a peak level of the video signal in a display screen or in each of a plurality of partial display areas into which the display screen is divided, and factor data obtained from a data map made up of a reference position on the display screen and the factor data that are associated with each other.
