<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an image having a wide color reproduction range without being viewed spatially shifted of pixels of a display image, in a multi-primary color display device with pixels having a plurality of sub-pixels each of which representing a primary color. <P>SOLUTION: The image display apparatus includes an image display section, an intensity calculation section, and a control section. The image display section has a plurality of pixels including sub-pixels representing a plurality of colors. The intensity calculation section determines the intensity of the sub-pixels so that a distance between the center of gravity of the pixels which is calculated from the position of the sub-pixels weighted by the brightness of the sub-pixels in the pixels, and a specific point determined for each of the pixels becomes the minimum or a threshold or less, based on the image signal including the brightness of the pixels and color information. The control section generates a control signal for making the specific sub-pixel emit light at the intensity calculated by the intensity calculation section.
