PURPOSE: A cooling device of an electric vehicle and a control method are provided to control a cooling capacity by controlling the number of operating condensers. CONSTITUTION: A cooling device of an electric vehicle comprises a plurality of compressors(101,102), condensers(103,203), evaporators(104,204), and refrigerant paths. The compressor compresses a refrigerant cooling the inside of the electric vehicle. The condensers are installed in the same number by comprising a pair with the compressors. The evaporators are installed in the same number by comprising a pair with the condensers. The refrigerant paths guide the refrigerant by individually connecting the compressors, the condensers, and the evaporators. The number of the operating compressors is controlled in order to control a cooling capacity.
