<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic shutter of all simultaneous pixels without increasing a wiring layer. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging element includes: a photodiode; first transfer means for transferring a signal charge of the photodiode to a memory section; second transfer means for transferring the signal charge transferred to the memory section to a floating diffusion section; and a source follower circuit consisting of resetting means for resetting the floating diffusion section, an amplification MOS transistor, and a constant current source. An operation for applying a signal for opening/closing the first transfer means, a transfer/resetting signal for opening/closing the resetting means and a second transfer signal for opening/closing the second transfer means at the same time, applying the transfer/resetting signal after prescribed time and reading a reset level of the floating diffusion section is performed. An operation for applying the second transfer signal and reading the charge transferred to the floating diffusion section as a signal level is performed.
