<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monofilament for artificial hair having antistatic effects imparted thereto. <P>SOLUTION: The monofilament for artificial hair is constituted of a main linear site a comprising a nonconductive polyester resin, and associate linear sites (b, b') in a plural lines. The associate linear sites (b, b') comprise a mixture of electroconductive inorganic particles with the polyester resin, and are formed into parts protruded from the surface layer part of the main linear site a in striated shapes along the length direction of the monofilament so as not to cover the whole main linear site a in the outside of the cross-section shape. The ratio (a:b) of cross section areas of the main linear site a to the associate linear sites b is regulated so as to be from 95:5 to 70:30, and the value of a volume specific resistance measured by connecting electrodes to both terminals of the monofilament and applying a voltage thereto, and represented by [a measured resistance (Ω) of the monofilament/a distance (cm) between the electrodes when measuring the resistance] is ≤1×10<SP POS="POST">8</SP>Ω/cm.
